It is with broken hearts that the family of Jeanette Toccalino (nee Carpeneto) announce her peaceful passing on the morning of June 12th, 2018. She follows her late husband of over 68 years, Carlo, who passed days earlier on June 4th, 2018.
Jeanette was a pillar of love, compassion, strength and faith for her family. She was a selfless and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She nurtured all of her children with loving care and devotion. Jeanette filled their family home with warmth, tenderness, and love. She gave of herself without reservation and did not rest until her entire family were well fed and cared for.
Jeanette was a dear and devoted friend and nourished countless lifelong friendships. She was a selfless volunteer for many organizations, a lifelong member of the Catholic Women’s League and a tireless supporter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Firmly rooted in her faith, Jeanette was eternally optimistic. She believed that without fail, after the darkest hour light would always follow.
Jeanette had a deep love of learning and completed her degree in pharmacy from the University of Toronto, graduating in 1947 at the top of her class. She had an independent spirit and was determined to pursue a career as a pharmacist, a remarkable achievement for that time. Upon marrying the love of her life in 1950 Jeanette instead devoted herself full time to family and motherhood. Through continuing education, she maintained her pharmacist accreditation for over 40 years. Jeanette likewise encouraged her children to never stop learning and to pursue excellence in all of their endeavours.
Jeanette had a deep love and appreciation for culture and the arts, as well as a passion for travel and adventure. Jeanette will be greatly missed, but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she and her beloved husband Carlo are together again.
Jeanette is survived by her five children, David (Monica), Anthony (Virginia), Carlo (Rodney), Mary Demarte (Bill), and Michael (Debra), grandchildren Adam, Allison, James, Peter, Angela, Zach, Sarah, Jessica, Ian, Madison, Jake, Danielle, and Lauren, and great grandchildren David, Joseph, Ivory, Roman, Memphis, Freya, Ferris, Gio, Manuel, Claire, and Alexander. Jeanette was predeceased by her brother Dr. Dario Carpeneto. She will also be missed by a large and loving extended family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 18 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at J. Scott Early Funeral Home (21 James Street, Milton) 905-878-2669. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 19 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church (139 Martin Street, Milton).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sleeping Children around the World are greatly appreciated.
