Obituary of Lucas MacIsaac

It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucas MacIsaac at the young age of 15. Lucas passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 surrounded by loved ones at home after an 8 year battle with cancer. Lucas never defined himself as a child with cancer but as a young boy trying to live the best life possible. Lucas had a deep passion for soccer. He loved to play, watch, coach and volunteer. Some of our fondest memories are from the countless hours we spent playing soccer in our backyard. Lucas also developed a meaningful and inspiring relationship with God throughout his journey. Lucas’ faith gave him strength and comfort when life was hard and was a source of gratitude and thanks when life granted us victories. Lucas was predeceased by his grandfathers Joseph MacIsaac and Antonio Luquez whom he loved very much. He is survived by his parents Ivanna and Craig, his sister and best friend Maia, his beloved Tia Ursula and Tio Mike, Tio Bryan, Aunt Andrea and Uncle Jeff, Aunt Paula and Uncle Ian, Grandmothers Veronica MacIsaac and Magda Luquez, and a large family of cousins, uncles, aunts and friends whom he loved very much. We are proud of the person Lucas was. We are proud of his academic accomplishments, his sporting achievements and most importantly we are proud that Lucas was a kind, loving and caring person who touched many lives. Lucas wanted to thank all the staff and students at Kings Christian Collegiate for the love and support over the past year. He also wanted to thank Pickering Football Club, Canada Para Soccer, Cambridge Golf Club and Rick Imus Music. Lastly, Lucas wanted to thank the doctors and nurses who stood by us and fought with us for 8 years. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Eugene de Mazanod Catholic Church, 1252 Steeles Ave. W., Brampton. Please Note: Social Distancing is required at the church, as are masks or face coverings. Out of respect for the health and safety of the family and all present, please keep your visit contactless. In lieu of flowers Lucas has requested a donation to the Dr. Rutka brain tumour lab at Sick Kids hospital. This is an inspiring place led by a person who meant a lot to our family. We all hope and believe a cure will be found for this terrible disease. One final note of thanks for Dr. Ramji and Gurjit. to quote Lucas’ favourite song, “I Miss the days…….”
