It is with great sadness that the family of Simon James Baker announce his unexpected
passing on October 8, 2020, at the young age of 50.

was six years old. Simon married Sheryl Helsdon in 1994 and they welcomed their son James
to the family in 1997, and their daughter Jessica in 2000. Simon and Sheryl divorced in 2010.
Simon worked as a mechanic in his youth, before changing to a career in IT. He concluded his
working career at CIBC as a Senior Information Security Specialist.
Simon loved to share his knowledge about cars and enjoyed working on them
throughout his life. He also loved long motorcycle rides, cooking, and music. He was a huge and long-time Metallica fan. Simon was known for his good sense of humor, always cracking a joke and trying to make his friends and family laugh.
Simon will be greatly missed by his children James and Jessica, parents Sheila and
Stephen Baker, paternal grandmother Violet, sister Antonia, niece Nina Reany, and
brother-in-law Sean Reany.
The immediate family will be having a small private ceremony to spread Simon’s ashes

presided over by Reverend Jim Woolley. There will be a celebration of life following COVID-19
for all friends and loved ones to attend. Memorial donations may be made in Simon’s name to
