It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Hugh David Boyd on Thursday, December 10th at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Hugh was born in East York to Robert and Louise Boyd and grew up playing hockey and baseball there. Later he graduated from Ryerson and spent his career successfully working as a marketing manager for several companies before retiring in 2005.
Hugh married his high school sweetheart Brenda and raised their children, Michael and Cheryl, in Scarborough. They lived there for several years and making many lifelong friends, before later moving to Oakville.
Hugh and Brenda traveled extensively around the world, before finding the Foxfire community in Naples, Florida where they spent several winters. Hugh’s summers often consisted of playing golf and taking road trips in his Miata with Brenda.
Hugh was well known for his warmth, kindness, and caring attitude to all those around him. Always welcoming friends and more than happy to lend a helping hand. He helped organize and coach a community baseball league in Scarborough and became involved with several community groups after moving to Oakville. He had a lifelong enjoyment of nature and animals, which included the beloved family dogs Smudge and Penny.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Brenda, son Michael, and daughter Cheryl, as well as his many relatives and friends.
