Mary Avril Seamer was born in Cleethorpes, England on April 17, 1936, the only child of William and Sophie Seamer, and moved to Scunthorpe shortly thereafter. Mary attended Scunthorpe Technical High School and eventually joined the Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company as a short hand typist where she met David Reynolds, an engineer. Mary and David were married in 1960 and gave birth to their first daughter, Louise Elizabeth, in 1963. The family moved to Canada in 1964 where a second daughter, Amanda Jane, was born in 1965. After 6 years in Calgary the family moved to Montreal, then Ottawa, followed by 30 years in Mississauga.
Mary led a full and active life raising the children. In her younger life she was an accomplished amateur actress, she was an enthusiastic card player and became a very talented quilter, receiving awards for her work, and attending many "Quilt Canada" conferences across the country. She was an active member of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Erindale, Mississauga, for about 30 years. Later in life, Mary was very proud to be a loving and devoted grandmother to Nico, Katie and Eric.
Mary will be deeply missed and remembered with great love by her husband David, her daughters Louise Bertrand, and Amanda Sinnige, her son in-law John Sinnige and her grandchildren Nico, Katie and Eric Sinnige. Mary has left many friends and family in England and across Canada.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring.
