Gerald Pacitti, known to his friends and family as Gerry, passed away in his 78th year, on February 20, 2022, in hospital after a long and courageous battle against Parkinson’s and Dementia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Audrey Pacitti.
Loving father to Deb (Joe) Moniz and Andrew (Dawn) Pacitti. Forever remembered and loved grandfather to Lindsay (Chantelle), Meaghan (Maitham), Ryan, River, and Beck. Beloved great-grandfather to Jo and Jameson. Cherished brother to surviving siblings Allen, Teresa, Lewis, and Doug.
Gerry will be so terribly missed by his family and very large group of friends- whom he considered family. He was loved by all who knew him, always ready to sing, dance and tell a story. There was always a song in his heart and a whistle on his lips. He had many passions and driving patients for the Canadian Cancer Society was one that was near and dear to his heart for ten years.
Another was travel, which took him and Audrey all over the world; some of his favourites being Thailand, China, Mexico, Paris and Barcelona- he was a big adventurer! They spent over 20 years on their boat the “Bon Accord", boating around Ontario and the United States with their friends. His grandchildren have many fond memories of weeks away with their Granda on the boat at Ontario Place and in the Thousand Islands eating sugary snacks and listening to fun tales of Scotland and the tricks he got up to as a young boy.
He loved a good scotch and his favourite poet Robbie Burns. He was always ready with a quote from one of his poems. For many years he had the honour of giving the “Address to the Haggis” at many Robbie Burns nights, something he took much pleasure in doing for his friends and fellow Scots.
There will be a private memorial by invitation only. For those who are invited please call the funeral home at 905 878-2669 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a half hour time slot between 1 and 4 p.m. on Monday February 28. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson's Canada would be appreciated.
We raise a glass to you Gerry! In the words of Robbie Burns:
“If there’s another world, he lives in bliss; If there is none, he made the best of this.”
