WATSON, Tommy 1939 - 2022
Thomas (Tommy) Elroy Watson passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 27, 2022 in his 83rd year at Milton District Hospital. Tommy was born on November 8, 1939, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He worked in Milton for many years at Rockwell International (Steel Plant) and retired from the Mohawk Racetrack.
Tommy was the son of the late Helen and Tom Watson of Milton. He was the father of Leslie, Wendy, Gail and son Chris. He is survived by his sister Sharon and brothers Brian and Kevin. He is predeceased by his sister Grace Gervais and brothers Leroy and Ronny.
His many longtime friends and neighbours will miss Tommy at the Bruce Street Senior Apartments in Milton. Our dad loved his sports, The Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. For many years he loved going to the horse races or the Milton Legion for fun and entertainment. Dad passed away believing that he was the best dancer in Milton, among other things. Some of his best memories were made at the Milton Town Hall Teen Dances in the 1950's and weekends dancing and carrying on at the old Charles Hotel. He loved old cars and bragged that he owned over 100 of them (winning some in poker games); he was counting. His last vehicle was a mobility scooter that he drove around Milton for a few years. Dad liked to reminisce about driving anywhere in Ontario to the horse races for many years with his best friends Bert Jones, Sammy Mills, and Bill Hilson. He loved to listen to his old-time music and watch The Price is Right. Dad kept a fighting spirit through numerous health setbacks.
A special thanks to the medical staff at Milton District Hospital and to his family physician, Dr. Adam Filipowicz. The kind Dr. moved to Milton from Nova Scotia and related well with our dad while providing him exceptional care. The PSW's from St. Elizabeth Health in the Supports for Daily Living Program at Bruce Apartments in Milton were the best.
At our dad's request, no service will be held. A private cremation will take place.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Thomas
