On April 28, 2022 in her 90th year, Margaret Odenbach passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Alan Odenbach (1998) and by their son Dwight (1977). Margaret is survived by her daughter Deanna Pearce (David), 2 grandchildren Cynthia Brown (Warren) and Stephen Pearce (Anne), and by great-grandsons Fionn and Casper.
Margaret is also survived by her loving partner of 17 years, John Mockford, step-daughter Lise Infante, step-grandchildren Nick Infante, Kara Infante (Josh) and Tiana DeFreitas. Predeceased also by her step-daughter Janine Mockford.
Margaret was born in Saskatchewan and grew up on the family wheat farm, the eldest of 8 children. [Anna Marie (d.); Jerome (d.); Johnny; Leo (d.); Adeline; Eileen; Dolores]. Her early married life was in Calgary AB and Chilliwack BC where Alan and Margaret started their young family. Alan's military career took them to Ontario and eventually to Milton where they lived for many years.
Margaret had a long career at Northern Telecom in Brampton. After an early retirement she and Alan moved to Oakville where she enthusiastically volunteered, primarily at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. She loved her garden and the birds and squirrels who visited it. She was also an accomplished (and award winning!) rug hooker and a member of the Burlington Rug Hooking Guild.
A few years after the passing of Alan, Margaret found new happiness, love and adventure with John. They spent many wonderful years together travelling, gardening and just enjoying each other's company.
Many thanks to the nurses, PSW's and the palliative support team who helped and cared for Margaret. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations could be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke, Ian Anderson House in Oakville, the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family will receive visitors for a Celebration of Life Reception at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St., Milton (905) 878-2669 on Tuesday, May 10 from 1 - 4 pm with family remembrances at 3 pm. The family requests that masks be worn.
