KURTH, ELVIRA (Vera) (nee Prikopa) February 10, 1931 – December 17, 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elvira Kurth, 91, at Ian Anderson House Hospice. Beloved wife of the late Rolf Albrecht Kurth (1994). Loving mother to Regina (Christian), Angela (Frank) and Monica (Allan). Dearest grandmother to Mark (Nancy), the late Dianna (2006), Natasha, and Jennifer (Martin). Great grandmother to Rachel, Bradley, Lukas, Cash and Leo. Survived by her brother Heinz (Renate) Preceded by sister Jarmila (Elli) (2003), and brother Josef (2013). Loving partner of 22 years to Ranald Smith. Caring friend to Ranald’s children Diane (Mark), Gwen (Peter) and Doug (Darcy) as well as Ran’s grandchildren Erin, Andrew, Jodi (Zac) and Kasha as well as his greatgrandchild, Emma. The focus of Vera’s life was always her family. Having experienced the separation of her own family, the loss of their home and the many privations of WWII, it became a driving force in her life to keep the family she had together, to provide a safe and secure home and to ensure that her family (and everyone else) were always well fed and loved. Her work as a bookkeeper for many years and later as a partner to Rolf in real estate, was undertaken to achieve these goals. Her life was devoted to providing and caring for others. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her. A private, family service will be held Dec. 21, 2022 at the J. Scott Early Funeral Home. Vera will be laid to rest at the Milton Evergreen Cemetery next to the love of her life, Rolf. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ian Anderson House in Oakville 430 Winston Churchill Blvd, Oakville, ON L6J 7X2 Phone: (905) 337-8004 would be very much appreciated. There she received the best possible care for the last days of her life from people that exceeded all our expectations. Or contributions to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
