Stephen Douglas Thorpe
April 2, 1964 - January 6, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen Douglas Thorpe. Steve passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at Hamilton General Hospital on Friday January 6, 2023 at the age of 58.
The eldest of five children, he was the beloved son of Marlene Williams, and the late Errol Thorpe (Barb). Father of Kyle. He will be missed by his brothers Jamie Williams (Colleen) and Jonathan Williams, his sisters Jennifer Williams (Bobby), Pat Rambold (Paul) and his nieces and nephews, Melissa Rambold, Brent Rambold, Kacey Hutchinson (Spence) and Kevin Briard (Nicole). Husband of Colette, step-father of Ashley Newell (Mitch), Josh Newell (Meghan) and Samantha Chapman (Josh). He will also be missed by grandchildren: Mason, Austin, Nathan, Jayten and Jasper, along with his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Most of all he will be deeply missed by his dog and best friend, Max.
Steve spent years working construction before becoming a welder. He was a very hard worker and was proud of his profession. Everyone who knew Steve, knew he was a character. He was always up for a good conversation and had a sense of humour like no one else. He liked to make people smile and had a very big heart. His passion and love for Nascar will never be forgotten, we all knew that Sundays were off limits – the race always came first. Always up for a challenge, he had to prove you wrong if you said it couldn't be done. He was a handy man with many talents (he was like MacGyver) and always willing to lend a helping hand. Like he always said “everyday your feet hit the floor, is a good day”.
The family will receive visitors at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St., Milton (905) 878-2669 on Friday January 13, 2023 from 1 - 3 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any animal shelter.
