Obituary of Franz Bachmayer

Please share a memory of Franz to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bachmayer, Franz Theodor: August 11, 1941 - January 11, 2023 Although it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Franz Bachmayer, it is only with pure happiness that we reflect on his incredible life and the immense impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. His adventurous spirit that led him to set sail in 1964 from his home in Austria, to his new home in Canada, continued throughout his life. From camping and sailing to gardening and skiing, Frankie could never sit still. His love of adventure was only matched by his love of good food. In Toronto, he met his Scottish wife June (McGowan), and together they built their stunning home and loving family. Along with his dedicated wife who cared for him endlessly, Franz leaves behind his loyal daughters Heidi Azaria (Mark), Heather VandenHoek (Jeff), and 4 incredible grandchildren, Oscar, Mia, Lily and Zoe, whose lives will never be the same without him. He will be deeply missed by his extended family in Canada, his sister Liesl and family in Austria, and by all of his many, many friends. To meet Franz was to love him. His incredible kindness and unique sense of humour bettered the lives of everyone he met. We will forever admire the skill and artistry in everything he touched. There is an endless list of people to thank that cared for him gently and with kindness. To the nurses, doctors and PSW’s in Credit Valley Hospital, Milton District Hospital, and in his own beautiful home in Campbellville through the services of the Home and Community Care, thank you. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring/Summer.
